Please account for the build of the horse, for example, an Irish Draught may have a bigger head than a thoroughbred type.
Measure the mouth piece between inside edges of cheeks, eggbutts, or ringholes. Measurement in inches. This is a rough guide if you do not have a bit to measure.

 The measurement should be taken from the centre of the chest where the front of the rug would be, around the shoulder and on a continuous straight line to the point level with the top of the tail. This is much more reliable than using your horses height as a guide. To measure for an exercise sheet measure from the withers top the top of the tail. Measurements are from the withers to the top of the tail. Measurements are in feet and inches with increases of 3 inches per item. I.e. 5ft, 5ft3, 5ft6
