Hard Rubber Mullen Pelham
The Pelham bit is a compromise and can be a very useful bit,it combines both direct pressure and a leverage action.The rubber pelham is the least severe as the rubber cushions the bars and gives the tongue room this makes it ideal for a novice rider who needs to use a stronger bit or a horse who can take a large mouthpiece.The pelham is designed to be riden on two reins.The top snaffle ring operating the same action as a snaffle with the bottom curb rein introducing the poll and curb action when needed.If using one rein the conection of the two rings can be made by using roundings.The small shank hole is used for attaching a lip strap.The shank is made from stainless steel.The rubber mouthpiece softens the action of the bit but need to be checked regularly to make sure they have not been chewed or destroyed.
