Fulmer Jointed Snaffle This is a fairly mild bit which is great for training and for young horses as well as regular use.The full cheek design helps to encourage the horse to keep its head straight while at the same time puts pressure on the side of the face to help when turning.The fulmer also helps younger horses as it stops the bit being pulled though the mouth which can often happen when they are first introduced to a bit.The fulmer has a loose ring which creates a slightly freer movement in the mouth and can encourage mouthing.The loose ring can be a plus point for a sharp horse as it gives them a second or two to absorb the signal.The fulmer should always be used with fulmer keepers these are loops which attach to the upper cheek of the bit and onto the bridle cheek piece although if starting to work with a young horse you might want to wait before using loops so they can except the bit first.The fulmer keepers keeps the cheek of the bit in place stops it sticking out and rotating and creates a little poll pressure.The snaffle part of the bit uses the standard nutcracker action so when the reins are pulled by the rider the joint lifts up towards the roof of the mouth creating a triangle.This bit is made from stainless steel. £18.99
